Pattern to Crochet Mini Hello Kitty in A Dress Doll
This project is a very easy crochet toy. You will make a small soft toy using thick yarn. You start at the bottom and work up to the top. In the middle, you put plastic eyes on the face and stuff the inside so it is soft. At the end, you make a skirt and close the top hole. You also make ears and a bow. It is a fast project. It is great for beginners.
Materials List
Plush yarn in two colors: a main color (like white) and a dress color (like pink) – approx. 120m/100g
A small amount of black cotton yarn (for eyelashes/whiskers)
A small amount of yellow yarn (for the nose)
Crochet hook (4.0 mm)

Hello Kitty Plushie Pattern
Rnd 1: Start with the dress color (pink). Work 8 sc in a MR (8 sts)
Rnd 2: inc in each st around (16 sts)
Rnd 3 (Adding tail and legs):
Work 1 sc, but do not finish the stitch. Change color to the main color (white).
Tail: ch 5. Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, work 1 sc, then 3 sl sts back down the chain. Sl st back into the base stitch on the body. Change back to pink.
Work 4 sc (leave the 4th sc unfinished and change to white).
Leg 1: Work a 3-dc cluster in the next stitch. Change back to pink.
Work 4 sc (leave the 4th sc unfinished and change to white).
Leg 2: Work a 3-dc cluster in the next stitch. Change back to pink.
Work 5 sc to finish the round. (Base stitch count remains 16 sts)
Rnd 4: 1 sc in each st around (16 sts). Push the tail down so it stays on the outside.
Rnd 5 (Adding arms in BLO):
Work this entire round in the Back Loops Only (BLO).
Work 6 sc (leave the 6th sc unfinished and change to white).
Arm 1: Work a 3-dc cluster in the next stitch. Change back to pink.
Work 2 sc (leave the 2nd sc unfinished and change to white).
Arm 2: Work a 3-dc cluster in the next stitch. Change back to pink.
Work 6 sc to finish the round. (16 sts)
Rnd 6: [2 sc, 1 dec] repeat 4 times (12 sts). On the last stitch, change color permanently to white and cut the pink yarn.
Rnd 7: inc in each st around (24 sts)
The Skirt:
Hold the toy upside down and join the pink yarn to the unworked Front Loops (FLO) left over from Rnd 5.
Work 1 inc in each front loop all the way around (32 sts).
Sl st to join, cut yarn, and hide the tail inside the toy.
Head:
Rnd 8 – 10: 1 sc in each st around (24 sts) This is 3 rounds of single crochet.
Rnd 11: [2 sc, 1 dec] repeat 6 times (18 sts)
Face and Stuffing Assembly:
Insert the 10mm safety eyes between Rnd 9 and Rnd 10.
Embroider the yellow nose between the eyes.
Stuff the body and head firmly with poly-fil.
Rnd 12: [1 sc, 1 dec] repeat 6 times (12 sts)
Rnd 13: dec in each st around (6 sts)
Fasten off. Weave the yarn tail through the front loops of the remaining 6 stitches and pull tight to close the hole.
Ears (Make 2):
Join white yarn to the top of the head where you want an ear. In the exact same stitch, work: 1 dc, ch 2, sl st into the 2nd ch from hook (picot), 1 dc. Sl st into the next stitch on the head and fasten off. Repeat for the second ear on the opposite side.
Optional: Use black yarn to embroider eyelashes/whiskers on the sides of the face.
Bow:
Using pink yarn:
Ch 3. In the 2nd ch from hook, work: 1 dc, ch 2, sl st into the same ch.
Ch 2, 1 dc in the same center ch, ch 2, sl st into the same center ch.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Wrap the tail around the center of the bow multiple times to shape it, then sew the bow to the head near one of the ears.
