This summer, learn how to crochet these no-sew Minions in a swim ring plushies with a free written pattern + a tutorial as well. This is the 3rd part of the “iconic animated characters crocheted low-sew & quick” series! Today, we will be crocheting this leggy Minion plush wearing a toy swim ring with a 3 cm hole. This version of crochet Minion is designed to look BEST & the CUTEST in the swim ring. So, be sure you have one, or you can also follow a donut pattern to crochet one.
Prepare yourself, as I will share many more patterns for crocheting plushies in swim rings. These Minion plushies will be irresistible beach buddies & toys for little ones, or they carry them to the poolside.

Crochet Minions in a Swim Ring Plushie Pattern
This plush mini-Minion is designed without sewing from the bottom up. The arms, legs, and safety-eye frame are crocheted entirely in one piece as you go. It is perfectly sized (~10 cm with legs) to fit inside a small crocheted inflatable swimming ring accessory!

Materials Needed
Plush Chenille Yarn: Blue (pants), Yellow (body), Black (shoes/gloves/goggles strap), and White (eye backing).
Crochet Hooks: 4.0 mm hook (main body) and a 3.5 mm hook (optional, for the overalls straps).
Safety Eye: One 8 mm plastic eye (plus glue or backing).
Other: Fiberfill stuffing and a yarn needle.
Abbreviations (US Terms)
MR: Magic Ring
ch: Chain
sc: Single crochet
inc: Increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec: Decrease (invisible single crochet decrease)
sl st: Slip stitch
dc: Double crochet
bo4: Bobble stitch using 4 partially finished dc stitches closed together with a single top loop.

Step-by-Step Pattern
1. Base, Pants & Legs
Start with Blue yarn.
Round 1: 6 sc into a MR. (6)
Round 2 (Legs):
1 inc,
1 inc (on the 2nd sc of this increase, switch to Black yarn).

You can learn to crochet better with this miniature Minion in a swim ring tutorial as a beginner:
First Leg: Ch 5. Starting in the 2nd ch from hook, work 1 dc but do not complete it, work a 2nd incomplete dc in the same ch, pull through all loops to close (bo2-style toe). Sl st into the same ch. Sc in the remaining 3 ch spaces back down. Sl st into the base stitch on the body. Switch back to Blue yarn. (Tie the black yarn ends off inside).

1 inc (on the 2nd sc of this increase, switch to Black yarn).

Second Leg: Ch 5. Work exactly the same as the first leg (bo2 toe in 2nd ch, sl st in same ch, 3 sc down, sl st into the base body stitch). Switch back to Blue yarn.
1 inc. (12 body stitches)
Round 3: 12 sc around. (Push the legs forward/downward out of your way). (12)
Round 4: 12 sc around. On the 12th stitch, change color to Yellow yarn. (12)

2. Body, Overalls bib, & Arms
Continue with Yellow yarn (unless noted).
Round 5 (Bib details): 5 sc in Yellow, 1 sc in Yellow (switch to Blue on pull-through), 2 sc in Blue (switch back to Yellow), 4 sc in Yellow. (12)
Round 6: 12 sc in Yellow around. (Cut the blue yarn entirely). (12)
Round 7 (Arms): 5 sc.

First Arm: Ch 5. Starting in 2nd ch from hook, work 1 dc but leave it incomplete, work a 2nd incomplete dc, pull through all loops together, sl st into the same ch. Sc in the remaining 3 ch spaces back down. Sl st into the base body stitch.
4 sc on the body.

Second Arm: Ch 5. Work exactly the same as the first arm. Sl st into the base body stitch.
3 sc on the body. (12 body stitches)
Rounds 8–9: 12 sc around in Yellow for two rounds. (Push the arms down out of your way). On the final stitch of Round 9, change color to Black yarn. (12)

3. Goggle Strap & Eye
The black strap encircles the head, and the white bobble forms the goggle eyeball.
Round 10 (Goggles): Sc in Black until you reach the center-front of the face (~6 or 7 sc).
Drop the black yarn and pull up White yarn.
Eye Bobble: Work 1 bo4 (4 incomplete double crochets closed together) into the next stitch. Close the top loop of the bobble by pulling through with Black yarn. (Cut the white yarn and tie its tails securely inside).
Finish the rest of the round in Black sc. On the last stitch of the round, change back to Yellow yarn. Cut the black yarn. (12)

4. Top of Head
Continue with Yellow yarn.
Rounds 11–12: 12 sc around in Yellow for two rounds. (12)
Overalls Strap Option (Before Stuffing): If you wish to add overall suspenders, join Blue yarn at the back of the pants using a smaller hook (3.5 mm). Ch 4 up to the top of the arm, sl st into the body to anchor it, ch 4 back down to the front bib, and sl st to secure. Repeat for both sides.
Stuff the body firmly with fiberfill.

Round 13: 6 dec. (6)
Fasten off, weave the yarn tail through the front loops of the final 6 stitches, pull tight to close the gap, and hide the thread inside the head.
5. Finishing Touches
The Eye: Securely glue or press an 8 mm black plastic safety eye directly into the center of the white plush eye bobble.
Inflatable Ring: Slide your completed Minion right into the center opening of your 8 cm crocheted toy floaty ring!
