Well, all you need is to update your color scheme, and that’s exactly what we do in this crochet autumn-colored rose charm with the hanging leaves! Learn how to crochet this 3-rose flower charm this fall as a gift for a loved one in less than 20 minutes. The idea is to crochet three basic roses in earthy red and golden yellow, and arrange them over a ruffled crochet sepal. Below are hanging the same basic crochet leaves that you learned in the last tutorial as well as in my beginner master class.

Tutorial to Crochet the Fall Rose & Leaves Charm

This is a crochet pattern for a flower bag charm. You make three small roses using orange and yellow yarn. You make a green round base. You add a long loop and two leaves to the base. You glue the flowers onto the green base. You can hang this charm on the handle of a bag.

Materials

  • Yarn:

    • Cotton yarn (5-ply) in Green for the base and leaves.

    • Acrylic yarn (3-ply) in Orange and Yellow for the flowers.

  • Hook: 3.0 mm crochet hook.

  • Tools: Scissors, Stitch marker, Yarn needle, Glue gun.

Abbreviations

  • mr: Magic Ring

  • sl st: Slip Stitch

  • ch: Chain

  • sc: Single Crochet

  • hdc: Half Double Crochet

  • dc: Double Crochet

  • inc: Increase (2 stitches in one stitch)

  • picot: ch 1, sl st into the first chain

Pattern Instructions

The Roses (Make 3: Two in Orange, One in Yellow)

  1. Start with a slip knot and ch 14.

  2. Skip the first chain. In the next chain, work 1 sc and 2 hdc into that same chain.

  3. In the next chain, work 3 dc into that same chain.

  4. In the next 11 chains, work the following pattern into every chain: (2 dc, ch 1, picot, 1 dc).

  5. ch 2 and sl st into the last chain to finish the strip.

  6. Cut the yarn, leaving a short tail.

  7. Roll the strip from one end to the other to create a rose shape. Use a needle to sew through the bottom of the roll to keep the flower together.

The Green Base

  1. Round 1: Make a mr, work 8 sc into the ring. (8 stitches)

  2. Round 2: Work 8 inc around. (16 stitches)

  3. Round 3: Work (1 sc, 1 inc) 8 times around. (24 stitches)

  4. Round 4: Work (1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc) 8 times around. (32 stitches)

  5. Round 5 (The Edge): sl st, ch 3, sl st into the next stitch. Repeat this all the way around the circle to make a wavy edge.

  6. Hanging Loop: Without cutting the yarn, ch 45sl st back into the base to form a large loop. Fasten off.

The Leaves and Stems (Make 2)

  1. Start with a slip knot and ch 8.

  2. Skip the first chain. Work into the next 7 chains: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.

  3. ch 1 and rotate the piece to work on the other side of the chains.

  4. Work into the other side: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.

  5. sl st into the first stitch to join the leaf.

  6. The Stem: Without cutting the yarn, ch 20.

  7. Use a needle to sew the end of the stem (ch 20) to the bottom of the green base.

Assembly

  1. Lay the green base flat.

  2. Heat up your glue gun.

  3. Place a drop of glue on the back of each rose.

  4. Press the three roses onto the center of the green base.

  5. Let the glue dry.

Your flower bag charm is now ready to use!
