Today, you will learn how to crochet the 2nd-to-last of the 4 variations of crochet baby ghost amigurumi! The tutorials for pumpkin ghost and zombie octopus ghost have already been featured. Now, let’s crochet this blushing little BOO ghost in a tilted witch hat amigurumi with a step-by-step tutorial. To me, it is the CUTEST variation of crochet ghosts we have covered so far.

Unlike the rose witch hat ghost bag charm, this Halloween ghost wears a little-than-usual black witch hat with a big green bow. Also, this time, our crochet ghost has crocheted cheeks that make it look simply THE KAWIIEST!

Be sure to complete the set of 4 this Halloween, as all these ghost variations are quick and easy. The only one left to be featured is the devil ghost amigurumi, though I suspect the video tutorial has not come yet. So, please wait till I come up with the 4th ghost variation tutorial for absolute beginners. Now, continue reading to learn more about this Halloween project!

Crochet Little Witch Ghost Tutorial

This tutorial teaches how to crochet a tiny ghost witch. You start with white yarn to make the main ghost body using a magic ring, single crochets, increases, and decreases. You create a frilled bottom using half double crochets in the front loop only. Next, you crochet a separate round base and sew it to the bottom back loops.

Then, you make a pointy witch hat with a brim and a small bow. You also crochet two pink cheeks. Finally, you attach safety eyes, sew on the cheeks, stuff the ghost, and sew the hat on top.

Difficulty Level

Advanced Beginner

You will need basic amigurumi stitches, but it requires front loops only (FLO) shell stitch to make the frills and hat brim, while reserving back loops for joining pieces. Sewing multiple tiny parts (cheeks, bow, base, hat) is also needed.

  • Worsted weight yarn (white, pink, purple/black, green)

  • 4.0 mm crochet hook (US Size F)

  • 7 mm safety eyes

How to Make the Difficult Stitches

Half Double Crochet Shell (Front Loop Only)

This creates the ruffled base of the ghost body.

  1. Yarn over your hook.

  2. Insert your hook up into the front loop only of the next stitch.

  3. Pull your yarn through. You will have three loops on your hook.

  4. Yarn over again and pull through all three loops. This is one half double crochet.

  5. Make four more half double crochets in that exact same front loop to complete the five-stitch shell.
