Last week, I featured tutorials for the crochet candy corn jellyfish + pumpkin cone. Now, continuing our “summer + autumn combo” crochet series, today, let’s crochet this CUTE candy corn scoop ice cream cone buddy amigurumi with a step-by-step tutorial. This is a three-tier ice cream cone with each scoop having big eyes and one of the iconic colors of candy corn. Such a unique crochet craft will make an irresistible Halloween present for kids.
You can also call it the “candy corn baby octopus on an ice cream cone amigurumi” as the scoops are crocheted in almost the same method as usually used to crochet a no-sew octopus softie. It is much quicker to learn, as only the pattern for the cone and scoop is involved.

While you can also try the perfectly vertical scoop assembly, this curvy one looks much more UNIQUE and awesome. So, be sure to crochet this candy corn ice cream cone amigurumi this Halloween, so you don’t forget the charm of summer (in many ways, it’s the BEST season)! You will also like the embroidery around the eyes that makes each scoop look innocently cute. Now, continue reading to learn more about this Halloween-summer project.

Crochet Candy Corn Ice Cream Amigurumi Tutorial
With this guide, you will learn how to crochet a candy corn ice cream cone. First, you make a brown cone using a magic ring and basic rounds. Next, you crochet three ice cream scoops in yellow, orange, and white. Each scoop uses basic single crochets, increases, and decreases. You create a frilled bottom on each scoop using the front loops only.
You add safety eyes and highlights to the scoops. Finally, you stuff all the pieces with fiberfill and sew the scoops on top of the cone using the remaining back loops.

Difficulty Level
Advanced Beginner
The advanced beginner rating is due to the assembly and stitches used; you must work the shell borders into the front loops only (FLO) while keeping the back loops unworked for joining. Aligning, stacking, and sewing three separate stuffed scoops onto a cone shape requires good sewing control.

How to Make the Difficult Stitches
Frill Edge / Shell Stitch Sequence (Front Loop Only)
This is used to create the ruffled ice cream texture at the base of the scoops.
Look at the top of the stitch and identify the front loop only (the loop closest to you).
Insert your hook under the front loop only and make four single crochets all inside this same single loop.
Move to the next stitch, insert your hook under its front loop only, and make a slip stitch.
Repeat this pattern (four single crochets in one front loop, then a slip stitch in the next front loop) all the way around the bottom of the scoop.
