Looking for an absolutely beginner-level crochet autumn keychain accessory? Learn how to crochet this knotted bow and three autumn-colored leaves that consist of the beginner small crochet leaves that I have already taught in my “crochet basics” tutorial. The idea is to crochet a pair of leaves in each of the three colors (earthy red, golden yellow, and dull green), attached at the ends of three different-length strings and stacked by folding each in half. At the top, we have a crochet knotted bow that is again made of chain stitches.

You can also turn these crochet leaves into a crochet autumn bookmark, and the size adjustment from the diary to the magazine is super easy. Can be easily crocheted in less than 20 minutes.

Attach your crochet fall leaves bag charm with a keyring or hang it from the car; it makes an elegant decoration. I would also recommend crocheting this fall leaf keychain as a wired earphone string. Or turn one into a crochet fall drawstring bag string. Now, continue reading to learn more about this crochet set of three-colored leaves and to get the complete pattern + a step-by-step tutorial as well. It makes an irresistible gift idea!

  • Hook: 2.5 mm crochet hook

  • Tools: Scissors, Yarn needle

  • Hardware: Keychain ring with chain

Abbreviations

  • sc: Single Crochet

  • hdc: Half Double Crochet

  • dc: Double Crochet

Step 2: The Stem

  1. Without cutting the yarn, create the long stem by chaining. The length depends on the color:

    • Green Strand: ch 50

    • Yellow Strand: ch 75

Step 3: Second Leaf

  1. After completing the stem chains, ch 8 (this is the base for the second leaf).

  2. Repeat the leaf instructions from Step 1 (points 3 through 8).

  3. Cut the yarn, pull it through the loop to fasten off, and use your needle to weave the yarn tail into the back of the leaf.

Assembly

  1. Gather the Strands: Lay your three finished strands (Orange, Green, and Yellow) together.

  2. Find the Center: Fold the strands in half to find the middle point of the stem chains.

  3. Tie the Bow:

    • Hold all three strands together at the center.

    • Loop the chains to form a bow shape.

    • Wrap the ends around and pull through to tie a knot in the middle, creating a bow with six leaf ends hanging down (two of each color).

  4. Adjust the Leaves: Pull the leaves so they hang at different lengths as seen in the video.

  5. Attach the Keychain:

    • Open the small jump ring on your keychain hardware.

    • Hook the ring through the center knot of the crochet bow.

    • Close the ring tightly using your fingers or pliers.

Your leaf keychain is now complete!
