Pattern to Crochet Ghost with Kawaii Eyes & Heart Plush

Skill Level: Beginner – Level 2

This project is a small white ghost. It is soft because it is made of chunky yarn. The ghost has a pink bow on its head. It holds a pink heart. It has two black eyes and pink cheeks. You can use it as a keychain. It is easy to make and requires very little sewing.

Materials

  • Chunky Cotton Yarn: White (for the body)

  • Thin Cotton Yarn (2.3mm): Pink (for heart and bow)

  • Crochet Hooks: 5.5mm (for body) and 2.5mm (for heart/bow)

  • Safety Eyes: 6mm black oval eyes

  • Fiberfill: For stuffing

  • Tools: Scissors, Yarn needle, Stitch markers, Glue gun, Keychain ring

Abbreviations

  • MR: Magic Ring

  • ch: Chain

  • sc: Single Crochet

  • sl st: Slip stitch

  • inc (v): Increase (2 sc in one stitch)

  • dec (A): Decrease (2 sc together)

  • dc: Double crochet

  • tr: Treble crochet

  • Bobble: 3 dc cluster (used for arms)

  • BLO: Back loops only

Pattern Instructions

1. Bottom Piece (White Chunky Yarn, 5.5mm hook)

  • R1: MR, 8 sc, sl st join. (8)

  • R2: 8 inc. (16)

  • R3: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat 8 times, sl st join. (24)

  • Fasten off and leave a tail for joining.

2. Body (White Chunky Yarn, 5.5mm hook)

  • R1: MR, 6 sc, sl st join. (6)

  • R2: 6 inc. (12)

  • R3: (1 sc, 1 inc) repeat 6 times. (18)

  • R4-5: 18 sc around. (18)

  • R6: 6 sc, 1 Bobble (arm), 4 sc, 1 Bobble (arm), 6 sc. (18)

  • R7: 5 sc, 3 inc, 5 sc, 3 inc, 2 sc. (24) Note: This expands the bottom to create the “bell” shape.

  • R8: 24 sc around. (24)

  • R9: 24 sc around. (24)

3. Joining the Bottom to the Body

  • Insert safety eyes between R3 and R4, approximately 3 stitches apart.

  • Place the Bottom Piece against the opening of the Body.

  • R10: Work 24 sl st through both the body and the bottom piece layers to close the ghost.

  • Stop halfway to stuff firmly with fiberfill before closing completely.

  • Fasten off and weave in the ends.

4. Pink Heart (Pink Thin Yarn, 2.5mm hook)

  • In a MR: ch 2, 2 tr, 2 dc, 1 tr, 2 dc, 2 tr, ch 2, sl st.

  • Pull the ring tight to form the heart shape. Fasten off.

5. Pink Bow (Pink Thin Yarn, 2.5mm hook)

  • In a MR: ch 3, 2 tr, ch 3, sl st, ch 3, 2 tr, ch 3, sl st.

  • Pull the ring tight. Wrap the yarn tail around the center multiple times to create the bow look. Fasten off.

Finishing

  • Face: Use a needle and pink yarn to embroider a small horizontal line for the mouth between the eyes. Add two small horizontal lines under the eyes for blush.

  • Assembly: Use a glue gun to attach the pink heart to the front of the ghost between its arms. Glue the pink bow to the top of the ghost’s head.

  • Keychain: Attach the keychain ring to the top of the head through the stitches.

Your Little Heart Ghost is now finished!
