I am a crochet designer, macramé maker and a crafter who also loves doing MATH.

Welcome to another part of the “Crochet Fidget Amigurumi” series! Today, I discuss some REALLY creative ways to crochet cute long-limbed amigurumi beyond the viral Leggy Frog Doll.

This amigurumi idea is so versatile that you can turn any fruit, vegetable, food, or object into a crochet buddy. That’s why I was able to bring ideas from a crochet long-limbed tomato to a long-limbed cookie, too.

There is a catch that you can practically play with these cutest amigurumi. That is when you pull the legs, the arms will become shorter, and when you pull the arms, the legs will become shorter.

For the mushroom amigurumi specifically, there will also be a squishy option. Use them as bag charms or hold them in your hands all day long; these are simply irresistible.

What are long-limbed amigurumi toys?

They are crochet amigurumi designed with extended, flexible arms and legs that can often be pulled, squeezed, or adjusted. So, you can change shape and play with them as fidget toys unlike most crochet amigurumi.

What makes these amigurumi “fidget toys”?

Their limbs and sometimes bodies are designed to move or compress. Pulling arms or legs changes the length of other parts, making a satisfying sensory play. That’s the reason I think.

Way #1: Tomato Long-Limbed Amigurumi Keychain

Let’s crochet a cute little tomato buddy amigurumi following this pattern. This is one of my favourite Leggy or Long-Limbed Amigurumi Keychains and the easiest to crochet.

With that said, you only need to crochet balls and a chain stitch for the legs. There is, however, a 5-leaf calyx pattern that requires crocheting a petaled round.

Similar to the Long Limbed Strawberry Keychain I showed you in “Feidget Toy Series,” its legs can be shorter and arms longer by pulling. With this addition, it is very satisfying to play with. Wanna crochet this spring?

Way #2: Crochet Cookie Long-Limbed Amigurumi Keychain

If you have a sweet tooth, gift yourself this smiling, leggy cookie amigurumi. It is a square cookie with chain stitch limbs and crochet ball hands.

I am in favour of the same square cookie, as it stands out from most designs and will let you learn to crochet a solid square by working in the rounds. However, below I have also shared the free pattern for crocheting it as a classic round cookie.

That one will also be easier, as most beginners know how to work in flat rounds. You can also crochet a chocolate chip cookie by adding embroidery chips. Kids can also play with it as an Assemlable Toy.

Way #3: Crochet A Corn Keychain

Let’s crochet a cute and funny long-limbed corn amigurumi with this pattern. Its arms and legs are also adjustable in length, just like the first Leggy keychain, but this one seems the most fun to play with.

You don’t have to wait for harvest to crochet such an adorable Fidget Toy, and I am sure you won’t want to.

The no-sew pattern for the corn cob is so easy, and you can also use it to crochet a cucumber and other vegetable amigurumi. The corn husks are crocheted separately and sewn on later. Finished with blush on the cheeks.

Way #4: Crochet A Cookie Keychain (Version 2)

Let’s crochet a round version of the cookie buddy keychain with this pattern. As you can see, the legs, arms, embroidered mouth, and eye placement, and even the shell edging is the same.

You just have to crochet the body of the cookie by working in regular rounds of 6 single crochet stitches. The square cookie, however, needed the 8 single crochet stitches in the magic ring.

If you find this one easier and more pleasing, definitely give it a try. Also, add small appliques as accessories, like a bow to add a feminine look to it.

Way #5: Crochet Long-Limbed Amigurumi Mushroom

This is a cute anti-stress toadstool mushroom with miniature limbs and pearls of different sizes on the cap. You can pull the cap to make it longer and then press down to have a small baby mushroom amigurumi.

There are also pullable limbs. So, when you pull the legs, the arms will become shorter, and vice versa.

This is the best Fridget Toy I have covered so far in this blog. The idea for the pressable mushroom is to unstuff the middle part. You can also use this method to crochet many other similar toys.

Way #6: Crochet A Banana Keychain

With this pattern, you can crochet a perfect mini banana amigurumi only by working in back-and-forth rows. It is not difficult at all and can be followed within 15 minutes or so. There is also a little bit of embroidery that seems as if the designer tried to put a kawaii face.

Including the blossom end, the stem, and the banana body, all things are crocheted as one piece. Only sewing is needed after you insert the stuffing to join the ends.

There are BLO and FLO required to get that authentic shape of a banana, which you can easily understand through video instruction. You can crochet a bunch of them in green or yellow, and either put them inside a table centrepiece or use them as a keychain.
