Today, as I promised, I am featuring a much more FUN and, this time, a properly playable crochet caterpillar amigurumi design! Introducing the crochet big-eyed, no-sew, and medium-sized caterpillar pop fidget toy that you can crochet in under 1.5 hours with a step-by-step tutorial for absolute beginners. It is an irresistible gift if you have a busy routine and want a buddy who can make the stress go away in seconds. You can also crochet this toy caterpillar for kids as both a sleep snuggle and a toy.
This time, the caterpillar plush also has detailed antennae, no-sew bobble stitch legs, and a round back. This crochet pop toy is played as follows: just pick the last stuffed part of the caterpillar and pull it. It will stretch such that you feel a satisfying opposite force. Anyway, it is fun to play with at any age.
For starters, the 4-segment caterpillar using two colors (you can either crochet it orange-blue or a pink-blue combo). However, you can also crochet it any longer by continuing to work the segment pattern before you crochet the head of the caterpillar. You can also crochet it using the rainbow color scheme (the one that was used in the previous caterpillar). Perfect gift, anti-stress buddy, and lovely softie, be sure to crochet this plush.

Tutorial to Crochet the Play-With Caterpillar Plush
This tutorial teaches how to crochet a fidget pop caterpillar toy. The toy stretches out and pops back together because the body sections have no stuffing. Only the head and tail pieces get stuffed. You start by crocheting the head, adding eyes and antennae.
Then, you make the body parts using joined rounds and change colors. You crochet small feet onto the body sections. The body uses back loop and front loop stitches to help the toy fold. Finally, you crochet the tail piece, stuff it, and close the hole. Playing with the caterpillar helps the pop effect work better.
Difficulty Level
Advanced Beginner. The pattern requires basic stitches but introduces slightly advanced techniques like joined rounds, front loops only (FLO), back loops only (BLO), frequent color changes, and creating bobble stitches. Difficult Stitch Detail (Bobble Stitch)
This stitch is used to make the antennas (using 3 incomplete double crochets) and the feet (using 5 incomplete double crochets).
To make a 5-dc bobble foot: Yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, and pull through two loops (2 loops remain on your hook).
Repeat this exact step 4 more times in the exact same stitch until you have 6 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops at once. Push the bobble forward so it pops out, and immediately make a tight single crochet into the next stitch to prevent any gaps.
