Sharing a NEW tutorial in the “crochet fidget toys” series; there is no way I will miss the long-limbed, tug & pull funny and quirky toy character plushies! That’s why, today, I am FEATURING another oh-so-cute crochet fidget buddy plushie. Introducing the crochet big-glitter-eyed and smiling watermelon slice leggy fidget plushie that you can learn how to crochet with a step-by-step 49-minute tutorial for beginners. It is based on the classical watermelon slice pattern but with legs and arms that can satisfyingly slide through its body. It is a perfect gift for a friend with an exhausting routine.
By the way, I have already taught you two NEW crochet fidget plushies that are made using the plush yarn, one of which is a pop toy and the other is a bending toy. Today, we crochet this kawaii sitting long-limbed watermelon slice plushie.

The legs and the arms of this watermelon long-limbed buddy amigurumi are connected such that when you pull the legs, the arms get shortened and vice versa. But don’t worry, we have crocheted sphere arms as the stoppers, so you are not going to lose them. There is just something special that is added by the silver glitter eyes. Kids will, in particular, love these as their ultimate back-to-school bag charm. Now, continue reading to learn more about this crochet plush watermelon project for all skill levels.

Tutorial to Crochet the Watermelon Slice Long-Limbed Amigurumi
This tutorial teaches how to crochet a watermelon slice fidget toy. The toy features arms and legs that pull through the body. First, you crochet four small balls for the hands and feet. Next, you connect them using a crochet longtail foundation base chain to form limbs.
Then, you crochet the watermelon body starting from a chain, working in continuous rounds using green, white, and red plush yarn. You carefully insert limbs directly into the stitches. After adding safety eyes, stuffing, and an interior felt barrier, you neatly sew the top flat, and embroider black seeds and a cute smile.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate. This is the difficulty because the pattern requires working around a starting chain to form an oval, performing color changes, crocheting in back loops only, working directly over moving limbs without snagging them, and executing an uncommon technique like the crochet longtail foundation base chain.

Pattern Abbreviations
- mr – magic ring
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- inc – increase
- dec – decrease (invisible decrease in front loops)
- blo – back loop only
- flo – front loop only
- sl st – slip stitch

Materials
- Green, red, and white bulky plush yarn (Bernat Blanket recommended)
- Black worsted weight acrylic or cotton yarn
- Stuffing
- 20 mm safety eyes
- Yarn needle
- Stitch markers
- 6 mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Felt and hot glue (or nylon stocking)
Difficult Stitch Detail:
Crochet Longtail Foundation Base Chain: Pull out a long yarn tail (about a yard) when attaching the hand piece. Place your crochet hook pointing to the left on the working yarn. Take the cut tail and wrap it up and over the hook from the front to the back.
Then, take the working yarn (attached to the skein) and yarn over by bringing it up and over the hook from the back to the front. Pull the working yarn through both loops on the hook. Pull the first stitch tight against the ball piece and repeat the process to create your chain.
