Pattern to Crochet the Little Baby Hangyodon Amigurumi

This project is a small handmade toy of the character Hangyodon. Hangyodon is a fish character with big eyes and big pink lips. You will make this toy by crocheting yarn with a metal hook. You will make separate parts like the head, body, legs, arms, fins, lips, eyes, and swim trunks, and then sew them together with yarn.

Materials Needed

Yarn: Milk Cotton Yarn in Green (or Aqua/Light Blue), Darker Blue, Pink, White, and Black
Crochet Hook: 3.0 mm
Safety Eyes: 7 mm pair

Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill.
Round 20: (1 sc, dec) × 8 [16]

Fasten off and leave a long tail. Weave yarn through the front loops of remaining 8 stitches, pull tight to close.

2. Side Fins (Make 2 — Yarn: Blue / Green)

Round 1: Ch 5, turn. Starting in 2nd ch from hook: 3 sc, 3 sc in the last ch, work down opposite side of chain: 2 sc, 1 inc [10]
Round 2: 10 sc [10]
Round 3: 1 dec, 1 sc, 2 dec, 1 sc, 1 dec [6]
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

3. Dorsal Fin (Make 2 — Yarn: Blue)

Base Piece: Ch 12, turn. Starting in 2nd ch from hook: 3 hdc, 1 slst, ch 2, 2 dc, 2 tr, 2 dc, 1 slst.
Assembly: Place both dorsal fin pieces parallel and sew them together along the edge to double the thickness. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing onto the top of the head.

4. Lips (Yarn: Pink)

Round 1: Ch 25, join to the first chain with a slst to form a ring (ensure no twist). Work 25 sc around [25]
Rounds 2–4 (3 rounds): 25 sc [25]
Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew onto the face.

5. Eyes (Make 2 — Yarn: White)

Round 1: MR, 6 sc [6]
Round 2: 6 inc [12]
Slst to first stitch, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Insert 7 mm safety eyes into the center of each white eye piece.

6. Swim Goggles (Yarn: Green / Accent)

Lens 1: MR, R1: 6 sc [6], R2: 6 inc [12]. Fasten off.
Lens 2: MR, R1: 6 sc [6], R2: 6 inc [12]. Do not cut yarn.
Bridge & Strap: Ch 1, connect Lens 1 using slst, 6 slst around Lens 1, ch 2, turn, 2 sc (goggle bridge). Continue with 14 slst, ch 2, turn, 1 sc, 8 slst.
Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail.

Count and mark 10 stitches on each side of upper body (Rounds 20–22 area).

Row 2: 10 sc, ch 1, turn [10]
Row 3: 5 dec [5]
Fasten off and weave tail through remaining sts to close the hand. Repeat on opposite side for second arm.

10. Assembly

Sew the white eye circles onto the upper front head and secure safety eyes in center.
Sew the pink lips across the lower face directly under the eyes.
Attach the dorsal fin along the center top and back of head down to the neck.
Sew the side fins onto the sides of head.

Attach the head securely onto the body.
Pull the swim trunks onto the body and secure with yarn stitches around the waist.
Place swim goggles around head/eyes if desired.
