Video tutorial by Monua DIY!

Looking for an absolutely last-minute crochet anti-stress kawaii animal plushie? Learn to crochet this chonky, green & miniature cat or bunny cactus sitting in a tiny plant pot plushie with a step-by-step tutorial for all skill levels. You can also crochet yours using worsted-weight yarn and achieve the same miniature plush kitty cactus pot, as we will be using skinny plush yarn instead of bulky yarn. We will also crochet a small 5-petal flower for its head!

We will start working the round cactus body in green yarn from a magic ring, adding bobble-stitch paws and a distinct tail for each animal. Crochet small ears directly onto the body, then add a separate five-petal pink blossom.

After stuffing, closing, and embroidering facial details, spines, and blush, crochet a sturdy two-tone soil and pot base, then reinforce it with cardboard to complete the charming desk planter. Now, continue reading for learning more about this plush skinny yarn cat plush!

How to Make the Difficult Stitch (Bobble Stitch / BO)

The bobble stitch creates the raised bumps used for the cactus paws:

  1. Yarn over, insert the hook into the specified stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).

  2. Yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops (leaving 2 loops on hook; 1st incomplete double crochet).

  3. Repeat steps 1–2 four more times into the exact same stitch. You will have 6 loops on your hook (5 incomplete double crochets + initial working loop).

  4. Yarn over one final time and pull the yarn through all 6 loops on the hook to close the cluster.

  5. Push the bump toward the right (outside) side of your fabric to form a rounded paw.
