Finally, here is a free pattern to crochet a miniature stuffed pumpkin amigurumi with the spooky jack-o’-lantern face! Unlike the ribbed fall pumpkin, this crochet pumpkin is made from an amigurumi sphere, then sculpted with the needle to make the ridges. Crochet a set of 3 of these spooky pumpkins for preparing a Halloween centrepiece, using as a trick-or-treating bag charm, or giving as a present to kids!
You can also crochet this jack-o’-lantern pumpkin using super bulky yarn for an even softer and more elegant pumpkin. We shall use the larger-than-usual eyes to add cuteness and cut felt to make the spooky black mouth!

You can crochet this pumpkin amigurumi keychain either in orange or golden yellow. Looking for an even more special Halloween pumpkin? You can also try the kitty pumpkin, turtle pumpkin, and the leggy pumpkin. Now, since I am hoping you are keenly waiting for the pattern, please head below as there is a full pattern to crochet this pumpkin amigurumi pincushion.
Pattern for Crocheting Amigurumi Halloween Pumpkin
This project is a spooky amigurumi pumpkin that is absolutely perfect for Halloween! You will crochet a little round ball using bright orange yarn, working in a spiral and leaving special stitch markers along the way to serve as a map.
After popping in some adorable safety eyes and stuffing the pumpkin so it is nice and plump, you will use a long piece of yarn to wrap around the outside of the ball, pulling tightly on those marked spots to magically squish it into that classic pumpkin shape!

To finish off your creepy-cute creation, you will crochet a tiny green leaf for the top and glue on a cheeky, little jack-o’-lantern face made from felt. It is a quick, charming make that adds the perfect handmade touch to your autumn and trick-or-treat decor!

Are you a Beginner? Learn Crocheting Easily!
You can learn to crochet visually, in more detail, with this jack-o-lantern pumpkin amigurumi tutorial as a beginner:
Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) x 8. (32 sts)
Round 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) x 8. (40 sts)
Important Tip for Round 5: Every time you make an “inc” (two single crochets in one stitch), place a stitch marker on it. You will have 8 marked increases around your pumpkin. Leave these markers exactly where they are until the end, as they will guide your shaping!
Rounds 6 – 17: 1 sc in every st around. (40 sts) (Just crochet normally over the marked stitches, leaving the markers hanging in the fabric).
Round 18: (3 sc, 1 dec) x 8. (32 sts)
Round 19: (2 sc, 1 dec) x 8. (24 sts)
Round 20: (1 sc, 1 dec) x 8. (16 sts)
Adding Eyes and Stuffing: Place your 14 mm safety eyes right in the middle of two stitch marker lines, keeping them leveled and spaced nicely apart according to your preference. Once secured, firmly stuff the pumpkin with polyfill.
Round 21: 1 dec in every st around. (8 sts)
Closing and Shaping the Pumpkin:
Make a sl st in the next st, fasten off, and leave a very long tail (you need this tail to shape the pumpkin).
Thread your tapestry needle and weave it through the front loops of the remaining 8 stitches. Pull tight to close the top hole securely.
To shape the ridges: Insert your needle straight down the center hole of the pumpkin and push it out through the bottom Magic Ring hole.
Wrap the yarn on the outside of the pumpkin, aligning it with one of your stitch markers from Round 5. Insert the needle back up through the bottom Magic Ring, pulling the yarn firmly to indent the pumpkin.
Make a small, hidden knot at the bottom to hold the tension of the indent.
Repeat this wrapping, pulling, and knotting process for all 8 marked sections to create the plump pumpkin ridges.
Once all 8 ridges are formed, weave in the yarn end and remove the stitch markers. (Optional: You can glue a small circle of green felt over the bottom magic ring to hide your shaping knots!)
The Leaf (Green Yarn)
Step 1: Chain 10.
Step 2: Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, work the following stitches back down the chain:
3 hdc in the next 3 chains
3 sc in the next 3 chains
3 sl st in the final 3 chains. (9 sts total)
Step 3: Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Step 4: Using your tapestry needle, sew the leaf securely to the top center of the pumpkin.
Final Details
Cut a spooky jack-o’-lantern mouth and a small triangle nose out of your black felt.
Use your liquid glue to paste the felt face right onto the center of your pumpkin, between the safety eyes!
