This is the 2nd crochet pattern from my brand-new “crochet blue and white small Christmas accessories” mini series. And as I promised, today you will learn how to crochet this little blue and white stocking ornament that is decorated with sequins and a snowflake embroidery as well! We are using the classic stocking pattern, but what makes it special, alongside being last-minute, is the color scheme that is unique to our series.

It is low-sew, so you would definitely need more color changes to crochet your miniature boot keychain.

You can also crochet yours using the thin plush yarn, as I have found a lovely pattern on the internet. You can also use the standard red and white or red and green color combo. Now, continue reading for learning more about this small stocking project for all skill levels!

Pattern to Crochet a Small Stocking for Christmas

This project is a small crochet Christmas boot. You use blue yarn to make the toe, the heel, and the top cuff. You use white yarn to make the foot and the leg. You sew a small star shape on the front of the leg using blue yarn. You make a small orange bow and put it on the boot. You add small beads to the blue star. You add a string loop at the top back so you can hang it on a Christmas tree or connect many boots together on a garland. This project is fast and easy to make.

Pattern Instructions

1. Boot Toe

Using Blue yarn:

  • Round 1: Make a magic ring. Work 7 single crochets into the ring. Pull the ring tight. (7 sts)

  • Round 2: We work in a continuous spiral. Work 2 single crochets in each of the first 6 stitches, and work 1 single crochet in the last stitch. (13 sts)

  • Rounds 3–4: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around. (13 sts)

  • Fasten off the Blue yarn.

2. Boot Foot

Using White yarn:

  • Rounds 5–8: Join the White yarn. Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around for 4 complete rounds. (13 sts)

  • Do not cut the White yarn. Drop the loop to the outside so you can pick it back up later.

3. Heel Flap

Using Blue yarn:

  • Row 1: Join the Blue yarn at the end of the last white round. Work 1 single crochet in the next 6 stitches. Leave the remaining 7 stitches of the round unworked. Turn your work. (6 sts)

  • Row 2: Chain 1, work 1 single crochet in each of the 6 stitches. Turn. (6 sts)

  • Row 3: Do not chain. Decrease over the first 2 stitches, work 1 single crochet in the next 2 stitches, and decrease over the last 2 stitches. Turn. (4 sts)

  • Row 4: Do not chain. Decrease over the first 2 stitches, and decrease over the last 2 stitches. (2 sts)

  • Fasten off the Blue yarn and weave the tail down inside the heel.

4. Boot Leg

Pick up the White yarn loop you left waiting:

  • Round 9: Work single crochets around the entire opening. You will crochet across the 7 unworked stitches of the foot, and pick up new stitches evenly along the side edges and top of the blue heel flap. Pick up exactly enough stitches so you have a total of 15 stitches in the round. (15 sts)

  • Rounds 10–14: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around. (15 sts)

  • Note: The leg section should have a total of 6 rounds in white.

  • Stop crocheting when you reach the center back of the heel. Fasten off the White yarn.

5. Fold-Over Cuff

Using Blue yarn:

  • Round 15: Join the Blue yarn at the back of the leg. Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around. (15 sts)

  • Round 16: Work [1 single crochet in the next 4 stitches, 1 increase in the next stitch]. Repeat this sequence 3 times around. (18 sts)

  • Rounds 17–18: Work 1 single crochet in each stitch around. (18 sts)

  • Join with a slip stitch to the first stitch. Fasten off and weave in the end.

  • Fold the blue cuff downward over the white leg.

Assembly and Decoration

  1. Embroider the Star: Thread your yarn needle with Blue yarn. Count 4 rounds up from the bottom of the white leg. In the center front of the boot, sew a simple 8-point snowflake or star. First, sew a cross (a plus sign +), then sew an X directly over it.

  2. Make the Bow: Take a small piece of Orange yarn and tie a tiny, simple bow. Sew it or glue it to the top corner of the boot, near the cuff.

  3. Add the Beads: Using a very small amount of hot glue (or a lighter if your beads allow it), attach one small orange bead to the center of the blue star, and one bead to the end of each point on the star.

  4. Hanging Loop: Attach a piece of yarn to the top back of the cuff to make a loop. You can now hang your mini boot or tie it to your Christmas garland!
