This guide includes a variety of stylish crochet bags such as:

  • Clutch bag
  • Criss-cross coin pouch
  • Boho phone bag
  • Reversible shell cup holder
  • Drawstring pouch

Are these crochet bag patterns for beginners?

Yes, designs like the phone pouch and drawstring bag are beginner-friendly. More textured designs like the criss-cross pouch or shell cup holder might not be as I suspect.

3. What makes these crochet bag patterns unique?

These patterns has:

  • No-sew or low-sew construction
  • Stylish stitch textures (granny stripes, shell stitches, ribbing)
  • Designs like phone bags, cup holders, and wallets
  • Trendy aesthetics such as boho, beach, and knit-like

Bag Making #1: Crochet A Clutch Bag Pattern

This crochet clutch bag has the most beautiful and clever colorwork ever done with the granny stripe stitch. The idea is to make a repetitive 4-stitch diamond pattern by first crocheting the granny stitch with alternating colors in every 2nd stitch, then in every stitch, and then again in every 2nd stitch.

Use this clutch bag as a phone pouch, stationary holder, a wallet, or even a makeup bag. It has an oval base, so you can even include wide accessories inside it instead of just hooks, brushes, or pencils.

This clutch also has a hand-sewn zipper and a slip stitch cord handle. Crochet it in any two contrasting colors, such as teal and beige or pink and purple. It is worked from the bottom up, so it should be easier for all, especially if you don’t like sewing.

Bag Making #2: Crochet A Criss Cross Bag Pattern

Looking for a UNIQUE coin purse and small pouch? Crochet this crossed checkerboard pouch with a Romanian cord handle and a beautiful button. The idea used in this crochet bag is to make many slip stitch crochet strips and weave them into this knotted bag. You can learn two versions of this bag that differ only in assembly: a flat square bag or a 3D triangle bag.

For nice results, I recommend you choose a color with beige or white, so you have a good contrast to show off its knotted look better.

You will need 4-ply milk cotton yarn and a 2.5mm crochet hook. Be sure you can identify the Back Loop of the stitch to work the slip stitch strips. Also choose from green or orange version with the beige yarn.

Bag Making #3: Crochet A Phone Bag Pattern

Crochet this boho phone bag with a bohemian tassel, wooden bead, and off-white hollow cotton yarn. This crochet bag has a long double-chain crochet sling and a beautiful knit-like pattern of single crochet stitches worked in the Vs of the previous row.

You will want to start crocheting this bag by first crocheting an oval base using normal single crochet and then working it bottom up.

If you could not find the hollow cotton yarn in your stash, you can use any macrame cord or otherwise, the cotton yarn with a 2.2mm thickness. The beautiful semi-circle is actually a full crochet round, folded in the front and the back. You can also make it in any other color, such as teal or pink!

Bag Making #4: Crochet Shell Cup Holder Pattern

This is definitely the most elegant reversible seashell charm and a water bottle holder with beautiful ribbing. It is small and contains a diamond mesh pouch inside, mainly designed as a cup holder, but you can definitely adjust the width and height to make it fit any water bottle.

The ribbing is done using the Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC) and Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC). The reason is that you have vertical ribs instead of curved or horizontal ribs on the seashell. This will also make it stretchy and flexible.

This has a loop closure, so you can make it 2-in-1 in seconds by pulling the sides of the seashell outward. Isn’t it exactly how an actual seashell will open? Well, yes, and that’s why it is crocheted this way. Have a 2.2mm braided cord and a 2.5mm crochet hook to make it.

Bag Making #5: Crochet A Drawstring Pouch

Let’s conclude the discussion with this UNIQUE 3D waves drawstring pouch with beautiful off-white and pink stripes. This unique pattern is actually pretty simple; work 7 double-crochet shells, skip some stitches, and work single crochet stitches.

Because we are skipping fewer stitches than there are stitches in the shell, and working it in the BLO while single crocheting in both loops, this automatically makes dips between the shell stitches.

Be sure to try this NICE pattern. We shall want a circular base for it and work on it from bottom to top. You can also crochet it in blue and the off-white. Finish it off with chain stitch strings.
