Continuing the “SUMMER AMIGURUMI” series, today I will discuss these ways to Crochet CUTER amigurumi. For now, I will talk about the watermelon, octopus, cactus, and crocodile amigurumi with easy patterns in English terms. I appreciate these designs for their Uniqueness.
That is a “funny strawberry octopus”, a crocodile that doubles as a “pouch”, a cactus crocheted from a “rectangle piece”, and the first-ever “full watermelon”, and so on! I will keep alive the uniqueness factor and add many more summer amigurumi here in the future! So, be ready for them!
What is summer amigurumi?
Summer amigurumi are the crochet amigurumi inspired by summer themes, such as:
- Fruits (watermelon, strawberry)
- Sea animals (octopus, jellyfish, crocodile)
- Plants (cactus)

Idea #1: Crochet A Watermelon Amigurumi

Let’s first crochet this pair of a striped whole and a sliced half watermelon amigurumi. Crochet this bag charm with watermelon leaves, vines, and small yellow flowers, and you will learn the pattern for each in the tutorial.
Both are crocheted as a single piece, with the sliced watermelon only requiring the holding of one yarn at a time and the other two strands.
You can learn crocheting the two in less than 11 minutes, as only the sphere pattern is required. For the vine, curl the yarn-wrapped craft wire!
Idea #2: Crochet A Cactus Amigurumi

For window decor, crochet this eternal mini potted cactus in any size with this pattern. Surprisingly, the cactus is crocheted from a ribbed rectangle similar to most of the pumpkin patterns.
Just crochet the rectangle in any number of rows, and half of its length will be the height of the cactus.
Learn the sewing method in the tutorial for a perfectly round cactus. You can also embroider yellow spots all around. The pot pattern is usual; the 5-petal flower pattern is also the one I taught you already, and it is definitely easier.

I have already talked about many smiling and kawaii octopus amigurumi & plushies. Now, to add a twist, I brought this wacky octopus amigurumi with a starfish on the head from the “Funny Octopus” amigurumi series.
If you crochet it in pink, this octopus amigurumi will be in a strawberry theme, and the topping will be the strawberry leaf.
It is a no-sew amigurumi, unique for its curly arms, mouth embroidery, and 3D eyes. The recipe for this is to crochet an oval and embroider a black line. Also, crochet and attach the eyelids such that it overlaps the eyes a bit!
Idea #4: Crochet A Crocodile Amigurumi

This CUTEST mini crocodile amigurumi is an AirPod pouch, coin purse, bag charm, and a googly-eyed buddy, all together. Named “Mr. Crocodile,” you can carry this adorable crocodile with you anywhere with the hanging loop.
Crochet it in any of three shades of green. The cutest features are the embroidered teeth, popcorn stitch section over the back, and small, unstuffed legs and arms.
Surprisingly, this crocodile is no-sew, even though crocheted from two similar trapezoid-like pieces and seaming as you go. This is similar to the ragdoll technique, but you join using the crochet hook instead of a needle!

Let’s crochet a mini “cartoon” jellyfish plushie using this pattern with Chenille yarn and a 3.5mm hook. It is a stash buster and makes an irresistible softie.
Unlike the one I talked about in chubby animal plushies, this octopus plush has ruffled no-sew arms instead of the pointy scalloped arms. I have linked to an English tutorial, so don’t worry, you can easily follow along. Crochet it in pink or grey!
Are summer amigurumi patterns easy?
Yes, they are the same amigurumi just themed as summer and most of them are beginner to intermediate level. Many use:
- Basic shapes (spheres, rectangles, ovals)
- Simple stitches
- No-sew construction
You should also learn popcorn stitch or embroidery.
What is the easiest summer amigurumi project?
- Watermelon charm (sphere amigurumi)
- Cactus amigurumi (rectangle construction)
- Simple octopus plush (basic body + repeated arms)
Why is watermelon amigurumi made using multiple strands?
Using multiple strands:
- You have color separation (rind, fruit, slice details)
- Faster working
- Beautiful striped pattern
How is the cactus amigurumi made from a rectangle?
- Crocheting a ribbed rectangle
- Folding and sewing
- Stuffing
This is similar to pumpkin construction.
Do I need sewing skills for these patterns?
Some designs are:
- No-sew (octopus, crocodile)
- Minimal sew (cactus, watermelon details)
Even if sewing is required, it is simple assembly or edge joining.
What makes the crocodile amigurumi GREAT to make a round cactus body?
It is multifunctional because it can be used as:
- AirPods pouch
- Coin purse
- Bag charm
- Decorative plush
It also uses a no-sew ragdoll-style construction with seamless joining.
