This is part 2 of the “crochet tiered & decorative Christmas tree” series! Last time, too, you learned to crochet a Christmas tree decoration that can be used both as an ornament and a table decoration. But today, learn how to crochet this UNIQUE crochet snow-edged and bell-on-top crochet Christmas tree decoration specifically designed for room decoration!

The idea is to use a wooden slice as a base to bring holiday warmth to any tabletop, shelf, or desk. Crocheted from the top down into a seamless cone, the tree features four textured tiers of ruffled branches tipped with snowy white scallops.

Finished with a bright red bauble topper and mounted on a small wooden base, it makes the exact crochet gift you need this summer. For now, choose from two shades of green to use as the tree’s main color. You can also crochet a stem for your Christmas tree using an easy pattern. Can also be crocheted in last year’s favorite – rainbow tree!

Pattern Instructions

Part 1: Tree Body (Top to Bottom)

Worked in continuous spiral rounds using green/mint yarn. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of every round.

  • R1: In a MR, work 6 Sc. [6]

  • R2: 1 Sc in each st around. [6]

  • R3: (1 Sc, Inc) × 3. [9]

  • R4: 1 Sc, Inc, (2 Sc, Inc) × 2, 1 Sc. [12]

  • R5: (3 Sc, Inc) × 3. [15]

  • R6: In BLO: 2 Sc, Inc, (4 Sc, Inc) × 2, 2 Sc. [18] (Front loops left unworked for Tier 1)

  • R7: 1 Sc in each st around. [18]

  • R8: (5 Sc, Inc) × 3. [21]

  • R9: 1 Sc in each st around. [21]

  • R10: In BLO: 3 Sc, Inc, (6 Sc, Inc) × 2, 3 Sc. [24] (Front loops left unworked for Tier 2)

  • R11: 1 Sc in each st around. [24]

  • R15: 1 Sc in each st around. [30]

  • R16: (9 Sc, Inc) × 3. [33]

  • R17: 1 Sc in each st around. [33]

  • R18: In BLO: 5 Sc, Inc, (10 Sc, Inc) × 2, 5 Sc. [36] (Front loops left unworked for Tier 4)

Bottom Closing / Base:

  • R19: (2 Sc, Dec) × 9. [27]

  • R20: (1 Sc, Dec) × 9. [18]

  • Pause here and firmly stuff the tree with polyester fiberfill.

  • R21: 9 Dec. [9]

Fasten off leaving an 8–10 inch tail. Top off the stuffing, thread the tail onto a yarn needle, weave through the front loops of all 9 remaining stitches, pull tightly to cinch the bottom closed, and secure the end inside. Flatten the bottom with your fingers so it sits upright.

Part 2: Branch Ruffles & Snow Edge

The branch layers are worked onto the exposed front loops (FLO) from rounds R6, R10, R14, and R18 (starting from the top tier R6 down to R18).

  1. Green Mesh Base:

    • Hold the tree with the tip pointing upward.

    • Join green yarn with a Sl st into the first front loop of the tier.

    • Work across the round: (Ch 3, Sc in next front loop) repeat all the way around the round.

    • Sl st to the first st to join.

  2. White Scalloped Snow Border:

    • Sl st to change to white yarn in the first Ch-3 space.

    • Work into each Ch-3 loop: (Ch 2, 2 Dc, Sl st in the next Sc).

    • Repeat across every loop around the tier.

    • Sl st to finish, cut yarn, and weave in all tails.

  3. Repeat this process for all 4 branch tiers (R6, R10, R14, and R18).

Part 3: Red Ball Topper

Worked in continuous spiral rounds using red yarn.

  • R1: In a MR, work 5 Sc. [5]

  • R2: 5 Inc. [10]

  • R3: (1 Sc, Inc) × 5. [15]

  • R4–R5: 1 Sc in each st around (2 rounds). [15]

  • R6: (1 Sc, Dec) × 5. [10]

  • Stuff the ball firmly with a small pinch of fiberfill.

  • Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave the tail through the remaining stitches and pull gently to close.

Part 4: Assembly & Finishing

  1. Attach the Topper: Using the yarn needle and the red yarn tail, sew the red ball securely onto the very top tip of the tree. Weave the tail inside the tree and snip off excess.

  2. Mounting (Optional): Apply hot craft glue or fabric glue to the flat bottom of the tree and press it firmly onto a small circular wooden disc base for a sturdy, rustic holiday display.
